What happens when the people closest to you convince you that you’re something you’re not?

Howling at the moon like a wolf was teenage Hugo’s secret shame. As an adult, Hugo has built a quiet life with his wife, Summer – until the death of his beloved aunt and an unexpected inheritance change everything.

Now Summer and a newly hired village doctor slowly convince Hugo that he’s a baboon.

If only Hugo hadn’t shared that secret.

The Man Who Thought He Was A Baboon is a darkly comic, surreal new play exploring identity, manipulation, family and mental health.

Written and directed by Somi De Souza, an alumnus of the Royal Court Writers’ Group, the production is presented by Pulp House, a registered arts charity, as part of GrimFest 2026.
