David Correos’ show feels like hanging out in a state of delirium in your mate’s garage, stunk out with smoke, sweat and booze. From the moment you walk into the Monkey Barrel basement room Correos’ chaos is palpable, with dance music booming at full volume while idyllic videos of New Zealand’s landscapes play serenely on the presentation style TV at centre stage. As the audience file in towards their seats, Correos greets them individually with a sweet smile and handshake, he’s genuine, down to earth and generally lovable.         

First impressions always count, and it’s the one Correos imparts on the audience initially that lets him get away with all his insane behaviour later in the show, literally stripping down to his boxers and sucking off a (fake) gun. Yep!  Insane is the right word.               The humour of the show did feel pretty male-centric. It’s that 12-year-old boy joking around in the playground type of comedy, all the men in the audience were looking up at Correos with such eagerness you’d have thought it was Christmas day. Correos is Jesus Christ himself, the audience become his keen congregation, and my god they did all seem happy to be there. Don’t get me wrong, the women in the audience were loving it too, but I’d say our laughs were more utter shock, mouths wide open in disbelief at where things had got to.                                                                                                                  

Correos is undoubtedly a talented guy, he has contagiously great energy and a unique ability to make everyone in the room uncomfortable in an entirely comical and somehow comfortable way. He fuels the room with his crazy energy, and in return he gets the best audience participation of the Fringe, somehow convincing the audience to scream at the top of their lungs on his virtual roller coaster ride.                                             

Whether it was the midnight slot bringing in drunk audience members, or Correos’ one-of-a-kind energy, this wild ride of a show won’t be easily forgotten.
